8 Reasons Why I BELIEVE Green Team Has Already Won...

1. A TRUE Grass Roots Movement takes hold, and this one has! I BELIEVE The universe demands justice for the downtrodden education employees of Broward. It hears the woes of those who have been stripped of their peace of mind, finances, rights, health and dignity! I BELIEVE Green Team universally connected with the cries of our members and grew into being from their angst and need for better representation.
2. Broward county will benefit from ethical and altruistic leaders who put those they serve above themselves. I BELIEVE Programs created with the intention of healing wounds and strengthening communities will be conceptualized and nurtured to flourish in order to bring parents, teachers, students, leaders and lawmakers together to benefit mankind in Broward County. I BELIEVE through the vision of the Green Team and by seeking like-minded community partners with a will to heal community wounds we will see remarkable good things blossoming in our county.
3. It's the best thing for Broward and it's the best thing for humanity. I BELIEVE that Having truly ethical, honorable, honest, altruistic, innovative, intelligent, determined, strong, tenacious, humane, caring, giving, service oriented people in a leadership role in Broward... as are found on the Green Team... will bring unexpected positive happenings, action initiatives and-open good paths yet to be discovered for our county and our members.
4. The Will of Man through prayer or thought is a powerful tool in calling into existence that which the universe needs. I BELIVE Green Team has been called to serve our union and our community at this time by a power greater than any one of us. Each of us feels we are meant to serve and has accepted the calling and responsibility to do so. I BELIEVE in some way... Each of us knows we are being called by the "greater good" of our community and the will of members who have, through their thoughts and pleas, send out a supplication and petition for a strong and honorable new leadership. This new leadership will serve and lead our county out of this time of perverse negative happenings and doings upon those who work in education in the state of Florida and in our county.
5. Good intentions bring good intentions. I BELIEVE each member of the Green Team was drawn together at this time by the selfless good intentions of their earnest will to improve the plight of education employees and the kids and communities they serve. Good intentions such as these are handsomely rewarded by the universe because the will to serve mankind is at the heart of these intentions.
6. What is meant to be is meant to be. I BELIEVE that nothing can come between a man and his destiny. I BELIEVE the destiny of the good men and women who have come together on The Green Action 4 Members Team is about to manifest and NO amount of interference can possibly stop it now.
7. What I BELIEVE usually comes to be. Therefore... I fully expect great healing things to begin happening in Broward and at BTU starting around April 2, 2016 when Green Team Leaders begin building cohesive bridges with SBBC and new avenues to better represent our members, creating a better way for those we have been called upon to serve.... The members of BTU and the community of Broward! Just watch! smile emoticon
8. Nothing can stop a MOVEMENT whose time has come! I BELIEVE we are that movement and I KNOW our time has come. Actually... Our time is here.

From Andy's Wall- Why I am not allowed to Enter BTU??

NEWS FLASH... Interesting conversation happening on Andy Ford's page. I am sharing here because I unfriended him when I realized I no longer trusted his position as Regional director and head of the election committee at BTU. The election committee has proven to me to be stacked and totally unfair to Green Team. Andy Ford for those who do not know was the past President of FEA, and I respected him a lot. He was put in at BTU to make sure we had a "fair" election... but what I am seeing is another very UNFAIR election unfolding under his guidance. In addition to allowing a number of unfair doings, including the use of union resources and personnel to distribute literature promoting the campaign of the opposition, and finding NO MERIT in virtually every complaint Green Team has posed... under his guidance and supervision.... Green Team has been banned from schools by BTU Employees, SBBC employees, and now banned from entering my own union hall to use the RR. I do not see his presence as helpful at all. He (and the stacked election committee) introduced new election rules to the eboard... set parameters.... decided GREEN was not a "nick name"... and has made rules up to insure that we can not be more clever than the opposition. He promised that no new rules would be invented, but they have been. He also saw the county send out new language to rule out our existing contract language (a PERC violation) that states we are allowed on campus to state that we are NOT allowed on campus to campaigning during non instructional time. I can't say it was his decision... but he was not outraged by the county's intrusion... nor did BTU stop it from happening under his supposedly wise advisement of all things election. I do begin to believe that Kalebra and crew... who got us into a dismal contract and awful work condistions and have done little to service members... is getting help in blocking Green every which way there is to get that help. Including... gifts and literature with FEA, NEA and AFT insignia dropped to member mailboxes by BTU staffers. ESSENTIALLY GREEN TEAM HAS BEEN BLOCKED FROM SCHOOLS, BTU, AND EVEN THE RR! By anyone and everyone in power... go figure!! hahahahaha

Andy, can you please explain why dues paying members, who are also executive board members, were blocked from entering out union hall yesterday? The person who did it said it was on your orders, but I have a very hard time believing that. Thanks.

Andy Ford Even if I knew the specifics of what transpired yesterday I wouldn't get into the specifics in this forum. I can say there are BTU election rules that allow for campaigning outside of BTU meetings and meeting rooms; not during a meeting or workshop. The appropriate areas for campaigning at the BTU building would therefore be the parking lot, front sidewalk, and the building lobby.

Sara Robin Srebnik Sounds to me that they WEREN'T campaigning. And since Terry Preuss wasn't let into the building, she was barred on the assumption she would campaign. That is just wrong. My dues pay for this building and the salaries of everyone in it. I'm tired of this kind of treatment of members.

Tom James WHY are you guys asking Andy? He has no legal or constitutional authority over BTU elections. You need to refer to BTU constitution and bylaws. If Glickman and current administration is out of line then hire a lawyer and sue them. AFT nor any of their representatives has no legal standing in that BTU is not in receivership. You may wish to consult PERC to see if BTU committed any state election violations.

More the reason many teachers are DROPPING their local unions. FEA and local union membership is down across the state.

Tom James I would have to question WHY Andy needs an office at BTU except to do what I intoned in my last post. Just having him there in the building is not kosher. If the Green Team doesn't win I would advise all BTU members to quit. If Kalebra and her crew get elected you guys will never see another raise and will be totally screwed.

Tom James I think we can agree most ALL our teacher unions have failed members. AFT/NEA/FEA and most locals are useless shells of what they were. So called leaders in bed with the people they are supposed to be fighting. Big six figure salaries for officers and staffers while teachers get paid peanuts with raises that don't even match inflation.

2016.... Round 3 of Unfair Elections!

I have made no secret of the fact that my FB page, BTU NEW U, began taking form as my team faced an unfair and unethical election in 2014. And... here we go again... round 3! The shenanigans I witnessed were so ridiculous that I could not believe they were actually happening before my eyes! So was the case with Anna Fusco, who at the time was running against me... it's actually the reason we came together as the union POWERHOUSE and VOICE 4 MEMBERS we now are. There were a handful of us watching that election, up close. In the next election... also unfair... and unethical... BUT...Greenies won anyway! By now there were more than a dozen watching the antics of our election committee, and their unfair ploys! But NOW in 2016... there are over 30 of us who know the details of the unfair tactics and abuses of power intimately. Our numbers grow... but the elections do not become any more fair from our vantage point. It appears that every rule that can be broken by the opposition is fine and dandy, while every clever move we try to make is blocked. This year... even BTU staffers are telling union stewards(by phone and putting it in writing!!!) that campaigning is not allowed on school campuses and that Candidates are NOT allowed to be at schools. REALLY? That is not what our contract says. BTU is saying that to Principals and Stewards! Thanks BTU... Interfering in Elections?? YUP!! Wait... it gets better... One of the SBBC School Board high ranking officials also got into the mix, interfering in our election via a formal letter to all school administrators telling them Candidates can not visit schools and no election materials are permitted at schools. She is confusing election laws for partisan elections and election rules for internal elections. Brilliant! Many schools we had set up to visit with us and hear our ideas for BTU going forward have been cancelling on us. Of course... the incumbents and their supporters still get to go to schools since they are "the incumbents." How convenient! Anna Fusco and I get cancelled for 4 appointments at different schools where we had already been invited and approved to go, but Bernie Kemp, the VP of ESPs who was given a $5,000.00 raise when our member dues went up , and weeks after writing a libelous letter about members,(How lucky is he!!??) showed up today at Anna Fusco's school! How brazen! LOL! One has to laugh at these things. As if that is not enough.... to throw our little Greenie Badasses into a tail spin... Into our school mailboxes today, hand delivered by BTU staffers, who normally NEVER go to the schools to service our members... but do take to visiting schools to hand out literature... candies... and other goodies when there are elections underway that they can influence... such amazing timing they have... Today handed out Flyers printed by FEA and AFT for BTU with the name of the opposition team! "Respect" This takes the cake! I have to say... this one surprised even me who has been watching the shenanigans for 3 years. The worst part is that we have made numerous complaints about the use of that word.. "Respect" for their campaign because it has been the slogan for other BTU and FEA campaigns... which constitute using our union resources... a violation... and BTU advertising... another violation! These complaints were found to have had.... "NO MERIT!" HAHAHAHAHA! They have been allowed to hijack that word "Respect" for their campaign. OK... I get it... the election committee makes these decisions and we must just abide... right?? Right!! Hold tight now... because as we are "abiding" knuckles at our teeth... the BTU offices are sending a plethora of campaign pictures using that word... RESPECT... from previous campaigns to advertise almost everything there is to do at BTU... Suddenly... everything is "Respect this..." "Respect that!" Well, then... write some more complaints... you say! Okay...More complaints = More "NO MERIT" replies from the election committee. They (The election committee, now under the supervision of FEA Regional Liaison/Director and past President of FEA, Andy Ford) just do not see how BTU using our union resources to send out their slogan name multiple times over our computer and email system from official BTU sources every other day makes any difference, or creates an unfair advantage during an election. Wonders never cease! No! Wait... they do cease! They cease the minute our teachers get during the teaching day, distributed by our BTU staffers, printed literature with the AFT and FEA insignia stating the name of our opposition... RESPECT... OR SHOULD I SAY DISRESPECT? It's amazing to me. It's baffling. How can anyone take this seriously anymore? How can anyone think that even with the highly respected oversight of Mr. Andy Ford, that Broward Teachers Union INEFFECTIVE INCUMBENTS, CONTRACT NEGOTIATORS AND COMMITTEE FAVORITES could manage to keep from maneuvering their way into an unfair advantage. Let's not get me started on how they got another BTU employee to run on their "Respect team." Someone who has been out of the classroom 5 years campaigning at schools... just like the last person who has divided our local, and is now acting as VP... the one who seemingly single-handedly re-wrote our constitution to keep GREENIES from slating in this election ... was she that worried??? YES!!! And included gag orders and discipline measures for members.... Shhhh! Silence the masses! Yup... they did it again. The incumbent opposition... to gain an unfair advantage, once again... set someone working at the BTU office up to be an elected official. Wonderful... now there will be two BTU employees which claim they are not employees... running in elections to govern over working teachers and working members!!! Worry not friends... Greenies will still take this election... like we did the last one... and it will be all the sweeter when we do! Our opposition simply does not have the votes or the support of the members, and no matter what shenanigans are played out! BTU IS GREEN! :-) Count on it! Saint Patrick's Day is coming up.... Make sure to tell all your friends in Broward to vote by St. Patty's Day and to vote GREEN! We will need all the luck of the IRISH! :-)
