In a move very few are willing to understand. The SBBC chooses the first ever School Board Meeting where there is a 5pm Public Speaker Time... the first time in the Presidency of Anna Fusco, and the Vice Presidency of Terry Lopez Preuss that close to 200 teachers crowded into the school board chambers wearing the new BTU logo'd bright blue T Shirts to show solidarity.... the first time that over a dozen teachers spoke to the board in earnest about the bully mandates and technology reverie that impedes teaching.... this is the time they choose to film only from the BACK OF THE HEAD! WHY?
President Fusco made an inspiring plea to the county and she was faceless. Not one camera managed to focus on her speech or her countenance.
Dozens of teachers followed suit and they were faceless. Public speakers, even children who spoke were faceless. WHY?
I've never seen anything like it. Not one speaker had their face on the footage. What an outrage! And for what purpose?
Our voices are heard but our faces go unseen.
Does this make our VOICES matter less?
We will continue to speak and do hope this affront will be quickly rectified.
Already Representatives Osgood and Bartleman have taken to asking why and getting the situation improved after many emails and calls came in to BTU and a letter to Runcie and the Board was written inquiring... Faceless Voices...Why? We are grateful to them and all others who move quickly to rectify the insult made to our members, presenters, committee representatives, teachers, leaders and even students showing their speaking talents.
The reason for the sudden and ill timed change in how citizen's and speakers are filmed is said to have come by way of PR person, Tracy Clark, who is said, by Terry Lopez Preuss, BTU VP, to have stated that she had made the decision to do this in order to facilitate filming in some way and have a set pattern in place for future filming, where the cameras do not need to shift around.
However, being that I am Terry Lopez Preuss... I doubt she could have made this decision on her own without a directive from above and I find it sad that the young PR rep is taking the fall for this.
If she did make the decision. Easy fix... un make it!

No - Fix what caused this. You are not the first by any means to be treated this way. People have been edited out from airing on BECON TV for example. Demand a public apology. This IS PRECISELY WHAT POOR MRS RUPERT AND BARTLEMAN took the heat for saying on the board, that this is a LEAN BACK AND HIDE STUFF kind of district from the top down and not a LEAN FORWARD AND FIX THINGS kind of district and our kids are suffering by OUR OWN STATISTIC at 1 in 3 being abused or neglected while truancy, the number one indicator sign they say to look for in a community suffering Comnplex PTSD is rampant in Broward and the nation while CPTSD IS NOT EVEN MENTIONED at war-parties organized to stop truancy - what is wrong with this picture? The Compton Ca. suit was started by five regular people seeking redress... have any of you spoken with the Compton attorney-folk or the teachers union people there to find out whats-what? I'd like to have a lunch with Mr. Gohl and you(Terry) and Anna - to talk big-picture stuff outside of the strictures of your respective organizations - specifically to insure another PBIS - zero tolerance - police in every school - repeat debacle doesnt and isnt occurring right now with PROMISE and with Restorative Justice efforts. PBIS couldnt fail. It was more progressive than our current worldview. It did fail. Spectacularly. We don't want to repeat the exact same thing all over again.
